Picking out the perfect Charging Lead for yourself is SUPER EASY.

STEP 1 Length: Personally, I like 24” when racing indoor and 36” long when racing outdoor.

STEP 2 Wire Gauge: 12 AWG is very common. 8 AWG is heavy duty. How do I pick the right gauge wire?

STEP 3 Charger-side Main +/- Connector Type: The majority of battery chargers have 4mm Bullets or XT60. You can double check XT60, XT90, EC3 & EC5 connectors by reading the raised numbers/lettering on them.

STEP 4 Charger-side Balance Connector: The most common is a JST XHP-7 (Picture 3 from “Why upgrade balance”)

STEP 5 Battery-Side Main +/- Connector Type: For Bullet Connectors, you may need to use a caliper or ruler with millimeters to check the size of yours. The 4/5 Stepped Bullet fits both 4mm and 5mm. Connectors other than Bullets usually have raised numbers/lettering on their housings to identify themselves.

STEPS 6-9: Braided sheathing as a protective outer layer is a very nice optional upgrade. It’s braided from 10 mil thick polyethylene terephthalate (PET) monofilament yarns. It’s extremely durable and we have many colors to choose from.

STEP 10: This colored, single layer heat shrink with the MCRC Logo, goes over top of super thick heat shrink with an adhesive lining.

For your safety, if you select Bullet Connectors in Step 3 or Step 5, we install super thick adhesive-lined heat shrink. It’s red on the +positive Bullet Connector, and it’s black on the -negative Bullet Connector so you can easily identify them.
